 Michael Ashmen - "It's A New Day"

Art Central Gallery is featuring the work of artist Michael Ashmen in November. The show "It's a New Day" includes landscapes and wildlife paintings in oils and acrylics.

Ashmen says he was looking for a way to include more color in his realistic paintings.  The sunrise offers just that.  Birds often appear in his paintings, but his wife, Kathy, suggested it might be nice to have one painting with no birds. So "Daybreak" has no birds; but he couldn't resist putting dolphins in the surf.  Ashmen did manage to paint "Beached", with no wildlife, his only painting in recent memory not to include some kind of living creature.

Ashmen's love of wildlife painting melds his two passions--art and the outdoors.  He says that just sitting on the deck or his boat looking at his environment brings deep joy and contentment.  It is an easy decision to honor his love of God's creation with paint.

The exhibit will hang at Art Central through the end of November. To view more of Ashmen's work click here: Art Central featured artist
